No air handling system is cleaned «by feel». The correct route is always the same: technical inspection to recognised protocols, objective sampling, a system hygiene management plan, and only then robotic remediation and sanitisation, with final verification.
Technical inspections
to the best recognised international protocols and standards
The inspection is the document that justifies — or rules out — the intervention. We carry it out to the leading reference protocols worldwide, consistent with the Italian State-Regions Agreement of 5 October 2006.
- Robotic CCTV inspection of ducts using self-propelled robots with camera and lighting, including long and inaccessible runs
- Photographic and video documentation of every run inspected, referenced to the layout drawings
- Assessment of the condition of AHUs, coils, condensate trays, humidifier sections and dampers
- Airborne dust sampling and determination of the surface deposit inside the ducts
- Microbiological sampling on internal surfaces and air: total bacterial counts, moulds, yeasts and fungal spores
- Verification of filtration system efficiency and of the condition of the installed filters
- Inspection report with hygiene condition classification and acceptability criteria
System hygiene
management plan
The inspection captures the current state; the hygiene management plan sets out how to maintain it. It is the document that turns a one-off remediation into a verifiable hygiene maintenance programme, one that can be built into the facility contract and the risk assessment document (DVR).
System register
Survey of AHUs, supply and return networks, outlets, access hatches and critical points, with updated layout drawings.
Frequencies and responsibilities
Definition of the inspection and sanitisation activities, the minimum frequencies and the person responsible for each one.
Acceptability criteria
Objective deposit and microbial load thresholds above which remediation is triggered, with a declared verification method.
Records and checks
Activity log, sampling results, non-conformities and corrective actions, periodic review of the plan.
Robotic cleaning
and extraction systems.
Air hygiene remediation is not a matter of spraying product into the ducts. It is mechanical removal of the deposit, capture under negative pressure and only then sanitisation of the cleaned surfaces.
Sectioning and protection
The system is sectioned run by run, the terminals protected and the rooms isolated to prevent dust escaping during the work.
Robotic mechanical cleaning
Robots with rotating brushes and friction heads detach the deposit from the internal duct walls, including runs the operator cannot reach.
Negative-pressure extraction
The system is held under negative pressure by extraction units fitted with absolute HEPA filtration: the removed material is captured and not returned to circulation.
Sanitisation
Application of registered sanitising products by controlled fogging onto clean surfaces: sanitisation follows cleaning, it does not replace it.
Final verification
Post-works CCTV inspection, verification sampling and a closing report with before/after photographic documentation for every run.
